Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does acupuncture work?

A: Acupuncture helps your body feel better by encouraging it to heal and rebalance itself. In Chinese medicine, we believe your body has a natural energy (called "Qi," pronounced "chee") that flows along pathways. When that flow gets stuck or out of balance, it can lead to pain or other health issues. Acupuncture gently stimulates specific points on the body—like pressing a reset button—to get that energy moving again. It’s a safe, natural way to support your body’s ability to heal and feel its best.

Q: How long is each treatment session? What should I expect?

A: Your first visit usually takes about an hour. We’ll spend some time getting to know you, your health history, and your goals before starting treatment. Follow-up sessions are a bit shorter—usually around 45 minutes. Most people find the experience relaxing—you’ll rest comfortably with the tiny needles in place while your body does the healing work. Many patients even take a little nap during the session!

Q: Does acupuncture provide long-lasting results?

A: Yes, it can! Acupuncture doesn’t just cover up symptoms—it works to get to the root of the problem. By helping your body find balance and heal from the inside out, many people experience long-lasting relief. Everyone’s body is different, but with the right care plan, the results can be long-term and even permanent for some conditions.

Q: Will I feel the needles?

A: Most people are surprised by how little they feel! The needles are super thin—about the width of a human hair—and they’re gently placed with care. You might feel a tiny pinch or a mild sensation when they go in, but it usually fades quickly. Once the needles are in place, many people don’t feel them at all and often describe the experience as calming or even sleepy. It’s very different from getting a shot or having blood drawn.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: It really depends on what you’re coming in for and how your body responds. Some people feel better after just a few sessions, especially with recent or mild issues. For more chronic conditions, it may take a few weeks or more to see lasting results. In general, we often recommend coming in 2–3 times a week for the first couple of weeks to get things moving. After that, we’ll adjust based on your progress. Some patients like to come in every so often just to maintain their overall wellness!

Q: Is acupuncture safe? How are the needles sterilized?

A: Yes—acupuncture is very safe when performed by a trained professional. We use only single-use, sterile, disposable stainless steel needles for every treatment. That means each needle is brand new, used only once, and then safely discarded. Your safety and comfort are always our top priorities!
